Our next meeting will be on Thursday 28th November 2024. It’s being organized by Alan Smith and was originally set out with all 5 lathes in use, each of them doing their own thing, however due to bad weather the training session booked for the 21st November got cancelled.

Our meeting on Thursday 14th November was arranged by Susan Drew, Susan had chosen Pyrography as her theme for the meeting. Over the past few years since Susan had joined our club she had shown various items in competitions and in general that she had decorated using a Pyrography machine, these were all very well received by the turners, so much so that she was requested to do a session demonstrating her art.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday 14th November 2024, it’s being organized by Susan Drew and Susan’s theme for the meeting is to make use of a Pyrography tool to embellish her woodturnings. Susan has an excellent touch when it comes to using a Pyrography machine, something she hopes to pass on to some of the club turners. We as turners don’t seem to have the magic touch that Susan has for this very delicate art, but it is something we all appreciate and would like to emulate.

We had another training day on Thursday 7th November 2024, organised by Nick Simpson, there were 5 pupils with 5 turners doing various stages of woodturning, also present was our safety observer for this tutorial Mark Sutton and Susan Drew who kindly agreed to take a few pictures of the proceedings.

Our meeting on Thursday 31st October was the last of our Showtime meetings for this year, it was handled by Keith Brown, once a number was given to each person for each item being shown, Keith then picked out a number at random for who was up first and to follow. Most had single entries but there were a few that had more than one entry and we do like to encourage the members to enter more than one item.
