Our meeting this week, Thursday 19th January 2023 is going to be a quiz, based on the Pub quiz format, it is being managed by Nick Simpson and assisted by David Hobson. The questions will be on various subjects, mainly to do with wood or woodturning but there will be some questions on trivia and other subjects.

RE-SCHEDULED”Our meeting on Thursday 5th January 2023 was a demonstration by John Ruickbie, John was to demonstrate the making of a Natural Edged Clock, he would use 3 separate pieces of wood to make his clock, a main piece that held all the clock parts, a smaller base piece and a cover piece to hide the clock movement.

Our meeting this week is on Thursday 5th January 2023, it’s being managed by John Ruickbie as a solo presentation, John will be making a clock from more than one piece of wood and will also be leaving some of the natural edges in his design.

Paul is after a decent sized bandsaw and a better sharpening system, he is also interested in getting a spare chuck for his Nova Comet Lathe, and a couple more bowl gouges.

Our meeting on Thursday 8th December 2022 was to be the last meeting in 2022, it was also our Christmas competition and Grand Prize Raffle Draw.

Our next meeting is on the 8th December 2022, it’s the start of our competitions again after a long period of having no competitions due to the pandemic. Our last competition held at our club was at the Christmas meeting of 2019.

Cliff had been our treasurer for many years and was very well respected for everything that he did for the club. He was also very much involved with other clubs and organizations and treasurer to more than just our club. His death was very unexpected and he will be sadly missed not only by our club but also from the wider community.

Our meeting this week is a memorial to our late treasurer Cliff Sim who died on the 5th September 2022.
Cliff was our treasurer for many years and was held in the highest regard by everyone in our club, his book keeping was second to none keeping a close track of all revenue and expenses, he updated our club committee on the financial situation at every committee meeting and gave a full audited account at our AGM meetings.
