Our latest training evening was on Thursday 28th July 2022, there were due to be 4 tutors along with 4 pupils, however one of the pupils failed to turn up leaving one of the tutors with nothing to do, there was some doubt about one of the pupils before the session started because he had indicated he might be late, we did give him the benefit of some time to turn up if he indeed was only going to be late, but he was a no show!

Our meeting on Thursday 21st July 2022 was organised by Geoff Potter, Geoff’s theme for the evening was making shallow bowls and platters, there were 5 turners involved using all 5 of the club lathes.

Our next meeting is on Thursday 21st July 2022, it’s being organised by Geoff Potter, there should be all 5 lathes in operation and the subject matter for this meeting is making shallow bowls and platters.

Our latest training evening was on Thursday 14th July 2022, there were to be 4 pupils and 4 tutors, however one of the pupils had to cancel and one of the tutors came down with Covid, this still left 3 and 3 and it was too late to organise any replacement pupils or tutors. We decided to go with what we have, the 3 tutors arrived as arranged but only 2 of the pupils turned up, John Ruickbie’s pupil failed to turn up, that left us with Errol Levings tutoring Liam Comfort, and me (Alec Mutch) tutoring Gareth Jones.

Our meeting this week on Thursday 7th July 2022 is all about finishing methods and materials. This meeting has been arranged by Errol Levings and there will be 3 members taking part, it was originally intended to have 4 members doing the presentations but John Ruickbie had to call off, I will be taking on John’s contribution about the use of Oils as a finish in addition to my own contribution.

Our meeting on the 23rd June 2022 was another Showtime meeting, organised by David Hobson and compered by myself, we had entries from 12 members and a total of over 30 individual items shown. The standard of the entries was as usual very good, there were several entries from members who had very recently joined our club, some of the trainee turners also exhibited, a positive step for them as they were so very new to woodturning.

Our meeting this week on Thursday 23rd June 2022 is a Showtime meeting, organised by David Hobson, compered by Myself (Alec Mutch). The usual format applies, bring whatever you have made recently or not so recently and tell us all about what you have made and why you made it or any other interesting snippets you consider we might like to hear.

Our latest training evening was on the 16th June 2022, organised by Nick Simpson our training manager, he had arranged for all 5 lathes to be in operation but unfortunately one of the pupils failed to show, all 5 tutors were present but it did leave David Hobson at a loose end, however he volunteered to stay and do some observation along with taking a few pictures for this post.
