Report on our EGM (Extra General Meeting) 17-10-2024.

Our latest meeting held on the 17th October 2024 was an EGM (Extra General Meeting). It was called by the club Committee to discuss and decide upon our club becoming a charity. Some weeks earlier our secretary Geoff Potter put in a request to the organizing body to become a SCIO, this was approved and we were given a charity number of SC053651. This was all subject to the members accepting the change in our status.

Under our existing constitution Constitution a meeting had to be called to discuss and get approval of the change to a charity. Notification of the EGM was sent out in accordance with the club’s existing Constitution.

At the meeting the reasons for the change was put to the members and questions were sought, there was a general discussion on what was to happen next including some differences in how the club’s finances would be run, the constitution for the SCIO was largely similar but went into a lot more detail, a copy of which was posted on the club’s web site. It was stated that the officials for the club would not be changed and that the next AGM would be at our usual time of early February 25.

The meeting was asked to approve the change by a show of hands, it was unanimous in favour of the change, there were no abstentions and no opposition.

WE ARE NOW A CHARITY ORGANIZATION.

Here are a couple of pictures of the members as they settled in to hear and take part in the meeting.

Some of the members as they took to their seats.

Here we see some of the members reading the information provided by our secretary Geoff Potter.

The meeting lasted just over an hour which allowed some time for a cup of tea and a biscuit prior to having the usual raffle. The turn out was excellent with more than half of the members turning up and taking part.

Finally a huge than you to Geoff Potter our secretary who did all the research, the application and got the approval that was responsible for making this happen.
